Use this when appointments, shopping, transport, groups, or routine outings are so costly or unpredictable that the person is participating less than they want or need to. Think about your average week over the last month.
This includes cancelling, putting it off, or going only when someone else fully organises and supports the whole outing.
Think traffic, waiting rooms, noise, crowds, transport changes, unfamiliar people, and being observed while doing ordinary tasks.
Verbal prompting, co-regulation, route planning, paperwork, communication support, and recovery support all count.
Examples include needing long sleep, shutting down, losing the next activity, or needing the rest of the day to recover after something routine.
